Mark and Omni-Man talking while flying in Invincible season 4

Invincible season 4 includes a few small hints at Mark Grayson's replacement as the titular hero. The ending of Invincible season 3 left Mark in a difficult position; the world was left reeling from the war with his multiversal variants, as Mark himself was struggling with the aftermath of his clashes with Angstrom Levy and Conquest.

Now, Invincible's Grand Regent Thragg maintains the Viltrumite threat against Earth, despite the efforts of the Coalition of Planets. Meanwhile, the Guardians of the Globe continue defending the planet from other threats, with one of its members getting a little more focus than usual. Thanks to this increased focus on one of the longest-serving members of Invincible's cast, the Prime Video show is setting up Mark Grayson's eventual replacement. Invincible Season 4 Is Setting Up Bulletproof As The Next Invincible The character in question is Bulletproof, one of the more underutilized members of the Guardians of the Globe since his introduction in season 2. Although Bulletproof is one of the team's biggest hitters regarding sheer power level, Invincible has always placed more of a focus on characters like Monster Girl, Robot, or, previously, Rex Splode. In season 4, though, characters like Bulletproof and Brit are getting a little more of the spotlight. In the first three episodes of Invincible season 4, Bulletproof is shown working alongside Mark a lot more closely, given that the two have very similar power levels. During the Sequid Invasion, the two almost combined to stop the threat together. After Mark decided to kill the final Sequid host, Bulletproof was one of the only members of the Guardians who supported this. All of this is priming Bulletproof for his future role in the show: taking over the mantle of Invincible. After Mark is incapacitated for a time in the comics, Bulletproof decides to use his similar powers to help out Atom Eve with Invincible Inc. as the eponymous here. The slightly increased focus on Bulletproof edges him closer to this important role, as do his similarities with Mark from a power and ideological perspective. Already, Invincible is setting up its titular hero's replacement. When Bulletproof Will Take Over As Invincible Naturally, this raises the question of when exactly Bulletproof will take over as Invincible based on the timeline of the source material. Mark's brief inaction comes during issue 88 of the original Invincible comics, with issue 70 featuring the Sequid Invasion shown in Invincible season 4, episode 1. With the Viltrumite War of the comics, which begins in issue 71, expected to be the focus of the latter half of Invincible season 4, Bulletproof's time as the hero will likely come in season 5. Depending on how far into the Viltrumite War Invincible season 4 gets, it would be a good, climactic twist for Mark to become gravely wounded by its finale. This would give Invincible season 5 a refresh of sorts, with Mark healing while Bulletproof replaces him. Even if season 5 begins before that, based on the comics, it is expected that Bulletproof takes over the Invincible mantle next season, given that season 6 will take the show into its final stretch. Bulletproof Is One Of The Invincible TV Show's Most Underused Characters Aside from being an interesting development regarding the overall series, Bulletproof's time as Invincible will be good for his character. Since he was introduced to the show in season 2, Bulletproof has been a mainstay of the Guardians of the Globe. However, as alluded to earlier, the TV show has never placed a big focus on him in his own right. Even characters like Shapesmith have been more of a presence than Bulletproof, regardless of the latter's strong abilities. As such, Bulletproof has been one of the Prime Video adaptation's most underused characters. Hopefully, Bulletproof's time as the titular hero in Invincible's future storylines will give him much more to do after a few seasons of disappointment. 193 8.9/10 8/10 Invincible 10 stars 9 stars 8 stars 7 stars 6 stars 5 stars 4 stars 3 stars 2 stars 1 star Like Follow Followed TV-MA Animation Adventure Action Superhero Release Date March 26, 2021 Network Amazon Prime Video Showrunner Robert Kirkman, Simon Racioppa Writers Robert Kirkman Franchise Invincible Cast See All
