FAIRBANKS, Alaska - As we approach Memorial Day weekend, it is important to be aware of wildfire risks as the fire danger is high for the Fairbanks area.

grass fire last week, the Alaska State Troopers suggest these precautions be taken for travelers; never throw cigarettes on the side of the road; build campfires in designated areas, clear a wide perimeter and make sure it is completely out before leaving; avoid parking on dry grass and make sure your vehicle does not produce any sparks; also, make sure safety chains are not dragging on the road because sparks can cause a roadside fire.
