November marks the beginning of new leadership for Montgomery Public Schools. Jamie Wilson is taking the reigns following the resignation of Superintendent Dr. Melvin Brown.
) - Jamie Wilson has been in education for 20 years, and she is no stranger to Montgomery Public Schools either.
“I’ve been able to do a lot of the day-to-day. I understand what the needs of our students are and families and our staff, but I also understand that it’s a heavy lift,” said Wilson. “It’s going to help create a more positive environment for students. We want them to feel like they have a sense of belonging. And so those are areas that we really try to work hard in,” said Wilson.
“We want to make sure that we’re providing supports for students emotionally, that any mental health services that we can provide for our students also make them feel safe and what make them want to come to school,” said Wilson.“We understand that it takes a village. And so I think the first thing is really making sure that we are providing the right space for our families to feel comfortable,” said Wilson.
