Incumbent Click Bishop is running for seat R in the Alaska State Senate.
He said he is running because he has a soft spot for helping people. “I get along with all people for the most part. I don’t try to make anybody’s cornflakes soggy. I play the long ball in this game. It’s walks and base hits, and then once in a while you get a home run.”
Bishop said the high cost of energy and the corporate income tax rates hinder Alaska’s growth. “We need cheap energy in this state, not affordable energy, but cheap energy, and I want to work very hard with the new senate majority caucus, even minority caucus to get the whole state onboard, because the cost of energy hits everybody regardless of party,” he said.
He said he first entered state politics as the Commissioner of Labor for Sarah Palin. “Sixteen years in Juneau, almost six years in the administration, so I know how the Executive Branch works. I’ve been ten years in the legislature. I know how the legislature works.
