Robb Myers is running for seat Q on the Alaska State Senate.

He said he is running because he wants to see Alaska have a thriving economy outside of the government and oil sectors. “I was very concerned that we were continuing to concentrate power into those two areas, and I just want to be able to grow and diversify our state and create some opportunities for my kids growing up that parallel or surpass some of the opportunities that I’ve had over the last 20, 30 years.

According to Myers, the state needs a stable fiscal plan going forward. “We have spent the last 6, 7, 8 years working on “How do we survive this year? How do we survive next year? We haven’t figured out what are we going to set our state up for the next 20, 30, 40 years, and that’s ultimately what has to happen right now.

He said he first ran for office in 2018 because he was concerned about how the state’s policies would affect the economy. “I want things throughout our state to be a little better. I want people to be able to live their lives and not just be staring at Juneau and wondering what’s coming next.”Copyright 2022 KTVF. All rights reserved.
