Police are asking for the public's help in finding Camilo Javier Ayala, who is wanted for the murder of Kenia Guardado Molina. Ayala has a prior sexual assault charge and detectives believe there could be more victims.
Houston police are searching for Camilo Javier Ayala, 25, who is wanted for the murder of Kenia Guardado Molina, a 27-year-old mother of two, last September. Ayala has been on the run since the Sept. 30, 2024, murder. On Tuesday, the Houston Police Department (HPD) released new images of Ayala, who also has a prior sexual assault charge. Detectives believe there could be more victims due to the violent nature of that previous case.
ABC13 has learned that a second person connected to Guardado Molina's murder is also being sought by police. Guardado Molina was captured on camera stumbling home around 2:45 a.m. with a man now identified as Ayala. Footage from two camera angles at her apartment complex on Forum Park Drive in southwest Houston shows them appearing friendly and comfortable as they walk to her apartment. Her body was not discovered until the next day when relatives grew concerned that she had not picked up her young son from the babysitter. Ayala was charged with murder in November and has a warrant for his arrest. Court records reveal a pattern of violence against women. In 2020, an ex-girlfriend accused Ayala of assault, telling detectives that he pointed a gun at his head. Additionally, records state that Ayala sexually assaulted a 20-year-old woman while she was waiting for a ride outside a nightclub on S. Gessner. When she refused his advances, he carried her over his shoulder, walked to his truck, and threw her into the back seat, where he proceeded to assault her. Despite her struggles and pleas, he continued the assault. Ayala was eventually charged with sexual assault in June 2024. Two and a half months later, police believe he went home with Guardado Molina, shot her, and then stole her purse. Video obtained by ABC13 shows another individual leaving her apartment and attempting to steal her car. Police are seeking to identify this person.
