Over the next few days, we will be in our typical summertime pattern on the Gulf Coast.

) - We continue to track Tropical Storm Beryl in the Atlantic. This storm is strengthening as it approaches the Caribbean Sea, and may become a hurricane soon. Elsewhere in the tropics, we have two other disturbances we are tracking that have a medium chance for development, but right now, there are no tropical threats to the Gulf Coast. The mornings will start muggy with isolated coastal showers. Then the afternoons will be hot, with thunderstorms developing around 2 p.m.

Highs this weekend will be in the upper 80s and 90s. Hot and humid air will be around, but those rain showers will briefly cool things down if you are lucky. In the long-range forecast, we see little changes to our temperatures or rain chances. We have a low risk of rip currents in place this Saturday, that risk will quickly increase to HIGH on Sunday. Please pay attention to the beach flags and posted signs when going to the beach. Rip currents may be present.

Rain chances at the beaches will be elevated in the morning hours, before dropping as the sea breeze moves inland in the afternoon. Still, keep an eye to the sky, and remember to head indoors if you hear thunder.
