MIRI: Erosion has been reported on two hillslopes in the districts of Betong and Kanowit over the past 12 hours due to heavy rain in the central and southern regions.
The Rumah Bantan longhouse in Ulu Layar, deep in the Betong district in southern Sarawak, has suffered structural damage due to soil movement at 8.30am.Betong Fire and Rescue Department have deployed teams to the site after being alerted.The damages are still being accessed.
Meanwhile in the Kanowit district in central Sarawak, hillslope failure saw Rumah Anyong suffering partial collapse.Rumah Anyong has 33 housing quarters built next to each other. Bomba Sarawak said Bomba Kanowit teams are helping to mitigate the slope failures to prevent further erosions.Parts of interior Sarawak have been seeing heavy rain in the last 24 hours.
