High-scoring transfer guard looks like Seton Hall's biggest offensive weapon
This dunk by Seton Hall Pirates guard Chaunce Jenkins put the Pirates up, 31-20, Sith 3:21 to go the first half against the Saint Peter's Peacocks, Monday, Nov. 4, 2024, in Newark, N.J.Jenkins, a 6-foot-4 transfer from Old Dominion, went for 19 points and hit two clutch foul shots down the stretch to help avoid what would’ve been an awful loss to open the season.
“Obviously, that’s something I was pretty good at. He just told me to come in and be a dog, come in and play hard and he told me that every day we were going to go hard in practice. He told me that every day he was going to push me to a level that I’ve never been pushed to and that’s what it’s been.”He might’ve gone to a bigger program to start his college career had it not been for the COVID-19 pandemic leading to the cancellation of the Nike EYBL summer circuit in 2020.in March 2020.
Last season, he elevated his game further and was named second team All-Sun Belt while starting in 31 games. He averaged 15.9 points, 3.8 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 0.9 steals per game.. “He made me feel like it was a place where I could really get better and compete in one of the best conferences in college basketball.”
“Just little stuff like being at the free throw line, knocking them down, handling the pressure they tried to bring,” Jenkins said. “Just knowing time and situation. Knowing when it’s a necessity for us to get a stop and when it’s a necessity to get a rebound, and making sure I reiterate that to the team.”
