Sparked by a season high score, the Slocomb RedTops boys bowling team defeated Orange Beach on Thursday in high school bowling action at Dothan’s Patricia Lanes.
DAVID MUNDEE Slocomb built a big lead in the traditional format, recording a 704 score to Orange Beach’s 586. The RedTops outscored the Makos 421 to 413 in the three-set Baker series behind scores of 141, 132 and 148 to stay in command.
People are also reading… The RedTops trailed by just 16 pins after the traditional format, behind just 632 to 616. They made a charge in the first two Baker sets with scores of 128 and 160 to take a 904-884 lead, but Orange Beach won the last Baker set 123-99 to take the win. The Raiders built a big lead during the traditional format, outscoring the Makos 740-586. The two teams play to nearly even terms in the three Baker sets with Orange Beach knocking down 413 pins to HA’s 412. The Raiders won the first set 148-118, but the Makos dominated the second 143-107 before Houston Academy won the third 157-152.
The Raiders led by two pins after the traditonals, but the Makos surged ahead in the first Baker set, outbowling HA 115 to 106 then added some distance in the second set with a 137-118 win. HA won the final Baker set, but not by enough, barely winning 126-123. Megan Hodges bowled a 157 to lead Dothan. She had seven spares in her round. Bhavi Shah delivered a 147 score and Sophie Donner a 146. Shah had three strikes and three spares, while Donner had one strike and six spares.
