Students in the current cohort have already completed two homes, which will be sold to local families — and they are in the process of building two more. “I want to become an electrician, and I took these classes to make sure that’s what I want to do,” he said. Mandy Chapple, principal of GTI, said the program is designed to mirror the needs of the construction industry. Students walk out of the high school program with the skills they need to attract employers.

Chapple noted that this hands-on experience allows students to explore career paths without committing to costly college programs.
