DAVID MUNDEE The Providence Christian boys earned a win and the girls team fell hard in high school basketball action Saturday at Trinity of Montgomery. The PCS boys beat the Wildcats 71-58, while the girls team fell 67-28 to Trinity, a two-time defending Class 3A state champion who is 2-1 this year against Class 6A-7A teams.
Pearce Boone earned 24 points and five rebounds to lead PCS. Luke Strickland had 17 points and five rebounds and Logan Hagler had 11 points and a team-high eight rebounds and four steals. Cas Boone had a team-high four assists.In the girls contest, Laura Faulk led PCS with five points. AnnaBeth Townsend had a team-high 10 rebounds and Carlee Smith had seven boards. On Friday, the Kings lost at home to Ezekiel Academy 61-43. Brayden Treadaway had 14 points and Grayson Ellison had 13 for the Kings.Trinity boys 42, Providence Christian 35 : The Eagles JV boys lost at Trinity 42-35 after being outscored 8-1 in overtime.Martin Roth had 10 points for Trinity, including a shot at the buzzer to force the game into overtime. William Hughes added nine points. Wiregrass Kings boys 62, North Florida Christian 44: The Wiregrass Kings JV defeated North Florida Christian 62-44 on Saturday in Tallahassee. On Friday, the Kings JV lost to Ezekiel Academy 43-39. Caleb Dozier had 15 points, Tucker Duren had nine on three 3-pointers and John Lincoln Graham had seven.
