ANCHORAGE, Alaska - Snow was finally falling in parts of southcentral and interior portions of Alaska . Snow reports of 24 inches in Stevens Village and Fox also reporting a 24 inch accumulation and it goes up to 36 inches in the Cantwell area, with nearby Petersville also getting covered by a big snowfall. The road was closed to Petersville because of the heavy accumulations. Eagle River was reporting 9.4 inches of snow. Anchorage saw much lighter amounts with .30 inches.
Flooding has been a problem on the Anchor river and adjacent neighborhoods. This has affected the southern part of the Kenai Peninsula. The flood alert has been lifted, but problems will persist. Residents have reported water getting into homes. Now comes a BIG change! Colder air will start moving into the state from north to south, with temperatures dropping to sub-zero temperatures.
