It won’t be so extreme that heat advisories are issued, but if you plan on spending time outside, take it slow and stay hydrated: It’s going to be a sweaty weekend. Then relief comes next week.Showers and storms are moving on as we head into the end of the week, but the heat and humidity are holding firm.

At least for now. Gear up for a hot, muggy, largely rain-free weekend with relief coming as we head back to work next week.Normal highs for the middle of August are in the mid-80s. We’ll finish the week very close to that, with Sunday being slightly hotter. But factoring in high humidity, “feels like” temperature will be well into the 90s each afternoon. It won’t be so extreme that heat advisories are issued, but if you plan on spending time outside, take it slow and stay hydrated. It’s going to be a sweaty weekend. And don’t forget the shades and sunscreen. This warm and humid weather is coming with plenty of sunshine, making for a gorgeous weekend if you’re headed down the Shore. An easterly wind kicks in on Friday. That’ll help keep temperatures a cooler along the coasts through Saturday. By Sunday, the wind shifts out of the west, warming temperatures back near 90. It will be the hottest day of the coming week. A cold front will arrive Sunday night into Monday. It won’t produce a ton of rain, though a few sprinkles are possible late Sunday evening and overnight. The front will bring cooler and drier air back to the tri-state area beginning Monday. Humidity will drop and temperatures will hold in the mid-80s on Monday. We’ll enjoy the refreshing feel of the weather by through the remainder of the week. The dew point – a measure of total moisture in the atmosphere – will stay in the comfortable range all week. That means no heat index to worry about; the temperature on the thermometer will match how it feels outside. And thermometers next week will read in the low 80s. If you’re eager for the arrival of autumn, next week will provide a gorgeous preview. You just have to make it through another weekend of sticky and sweaty weather before you get there.
