Mary Boone is a determined, hard worker. Now she's passing it off to her teammates
A lot of things are said on the pool deck during the Mid-Penn swim championships. Cheering, coaching and everything in between, you’ll never know what you’re going to hear. When someone talks about Cumberland Valley’s Mary Boone there’s two things they mention, her big smile and how hard of a worker she is.
Her hard work is definitely paying off as she captured gold medals in the Girls 500 and 200 Yard Frees during the Mid-Penn swim championships. The work Boone puts in has been ingrained into her. She credits her family with instilling that work ethic in her, but she singled out one person in particular. “My brother,” Boone told PennLive. “He’s my biggest role model. I always want to work hard, and its something that my family cherishes.”Mary is doing her best job of passing down what her parents gave to her to her teammates. Whether that’s in practice or on the pool deck, Boone is cheering and motivating her teammates to succeed. They’ve reciprocated the support. “We push each other in practice,” Boone said. “We tell each other to go and pace off each other. Our team is the most supportive and we’re always there for each other.” She takes the role of being a leader seriously, and it wouldn’t be Boone if she wasn’t having fun doing it. “I love pushing and cheering on my teammates,” Boone said. “It’s one of my favorite things. I love when we push each other to be our best.”Thanks for visiting PennLive. Quality local journalism has never been more important. We need your support. Not a subscriber yet?
