Business NSW Executive Director David Harding says the federal government's $500 million Housing Support Program for local and state governments is “a drop in the ocean'. “We do welcome the $500 million, not doing so would be looking a gift horse in the mouth but it’s the drop in the ocean,” he told Sky News host Caleb Bond. “It’s a step in the right direction but we really need to deal with the fundamentals of planning, that’s where the blockage is and once we get that done the capital will start flowing again. 'Your builders are going to start thriving again and we'll get those houses affordable where we need them.”
