Canandaigua, N.Y. — An Ontario County man has received his sentence after being convicted in a murder-for-hire plot.
A jury found Jerry Lovett , 33, guilty Thursday, May 2, 2024, of several charges related to a murder-for-hire plot. Prosecutors said Jerry Lovett , 33, of Geneva , known in his neighborhood as "Coochie LaFlame," was arrested in January 2023 after he shot and attempted to kill a neighbor who tried to help Lovett 's girlfriend.
While in jail, Lovett then tried to hire a hitman to kill the same victim later that spring, according to prosecutors, in order to prevent the victim from testifying against him.May 2 of first- and second-degree attempted murder, conspiracy, criminal use of a firearm, and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon.“Lovett’s sentence will ensure that he is not eligible for parole until he approximately 70 years old.” Assistant District Attorney Peter Van Dellon said in a statement.
