Flossie’s is serving some of Houston's best East Texas-style barbecue

The Texas trinity of brisket, pork ribs and sausage is excellent, as are the chopped beef sandwich and stuffed baked potato. Daily side dishes include beans and potato salad.

The greens are actually a mixture of mustard and collard varieties, simply stewed and seasoned with smoked turkey instead of pork, a classic technique from Southern cooking. They are some of the best greens I’ve had at a barbecue joint. Moody eventually plans to add new menu items including fried catfish and beef ribs. For now, he and Tehya are slowly building the business, making sure the food quality stays high and customers are met with personal hospitality.
