Authorities have identified a fisherman who drowned in Boerne City Lake this weekend. The body of Jorge Zavala , 40, of Leon Springs , was recovered from Boerne City Lake on Sunday, city spokesperson Chris Shadrock said in a statement. The city of Boerne released his identity Monday after notifying his next of kin.

Authorities believe the man spent Saturday afternoon fishing at the lake and went into the water to cool off. He wound up in deep water and shouted for help. But others with him at the lake were unable to swim so they called 911, Shadrock said.
