Authorities are searching for an 18-year-old fisher who went missing in the Mountain Creek Lake in Dallas Sunday afternoon.
The body of the missing 18-year-old fisherman was recovered Monday morning from Mountain Creek Lake, Dallas Fire-Rescue says.
Dallas police and DFR searched for the young man who entered a spillway near the Mountain Creek Lake Dam Sunday afternoon and never resurfaced.Police started the search for the 18-year-old man who went underwater in an area near South Merrifield Road and Keeneland Parkway at about 4:15 p.m. According to officers, a person called 911 and told them that a man and his 18-year-old son were fishing in a shallow part of the water near the spillway when the son was pulled under and never came back up.Sign up for NBC DFW newslettersRescue efforts were initiated using boats, sonar equipment, and drones. Authorities shut down the spillway to search for the man, but after hours of no luck, they suspended the search for the evening.
DFR was notified by the Dallas police that their dive team located the body at about 10:30 a.m. Monday. The Dallas County Medical Examiner's Office took custody of the body and will confirm the identification and cause of death.
