Rain and storms arrive Friday into Saturday before colder air moves in
MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Temperatures continue to be the big story as we move through the rest of the week. Afternoon highs will run above average, reaching the 60s and 70s, while overnight lows remain mild in the 50s and 60s.
Each day will feature a mix of clouds and sunshine, with fog possible during the morning hours. Rain chances stay low through midweek, but a better chance for rain and storms arrives Friday into Saturday. Out the door this morning, conditions are foggy, muggy, and cloudy, with temperatures hovering in the 50s and 60s and light winds. Fog should lift by about 9 to 10 a.m. A mix of sun and clouds is expected today, with highs pushing into the mid-70s. A light west breeze will be around 5 mph. Overnight lows remain mild, in the 50s and 60s, under mostly cloudy skies. Clouds stick around Thursday as moisture continues to build ahead of a front approaching from the west. Highs will once again warm into the mid-70s. A low-end chance for rain develops during the afternoon, with coverage increasing overnight. A First Alert for rain and storm chances late Friday into Saturday as a front moves across the region. The latest data indicates the higher risk for strong storms will remain north and west of our area, though we could still see a few storms pack a punch late Friday. Something we will be watching closely. Highs Friday will remain in the 70s with cloudy skies and breezy conditions. Rain chances continue Friday night into the start of the weekend as the system gradually works its way through the area. Lows Friday night into Saturday morning will be in the 50s, with highs Saturday cooling back into the 60s as cooler air filters in behind the front. Skies will begin to turn partly sunny as the weekend gets underway. Even colder air moves into the region Sunday into next week.
