Tracking Hurricane Milton, that is set to strike Florida Wednesday into Thursday

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Cruise control weather will likely stick around for the next 7-10 days! That means we can set it and forget it... lows are cool and comfortable in the 50s most mornings, all while the sunshine warms us up into the upper 70s and 80s each afternoon. It means lots of quiet days and nights, but also a lack of rain for central and south Alabama for the foreseeable future.

If anything, it may actually trend slightly cooler and more comfortable by Friday and Saturday... the nights and mornings will be especially nice, with temperatures dropping into the low/mid 50s, which is a few degrees cooler than normal for the middle of October. We will see afternoon highs trend down into the upper 70s some days, but most towns will have no trouble hitting the lower 80s now through the weekend and into next week thanks to dry air in our atmosphere and lots of sunshine.

A quick moving front is forecast to push across the region early next week, that could squeeze out a few sprinkles Monday into Tuesday, most will be dry. The big story with that front will be the reinforcing shot of cooler, drier air to the region. With some models hinting at highs in the middle 70s by midweek next week.Hurricane Milton will make landfall along Florida’s west coast as a dangerous storm early Thursday morning.

Storm surge flooding will be the most catastrophic part of the storm. It will be at its worst along the immediate coast near and south of the landfall point.
