Two people were rescued after becoming struck inside a grain hauling trailer in Upper Frankford Township Monday night.

Firefighters with the Upper Frankford Township Fire Company were dispatched around 8:30 p.m. to the rescue onAssistant Fire Chief Clayton Mentzer told CBS 21 that in total, around 50-60 people were called to the rescue, with crews responding from Cumberland, Dauphin, Franklin and York counties.— an adult and a teenager. Both were buried up to their shoulders in grain, which Mentzer said acts like quick sand — the more you move, the further down you sink.
First responders were able to set up a kind of "shoot" that allowed crews to divert some of the grain and relieve pressure on the trapped individuals, Mentzer explained. After an hour, crews were able to free the adult and teen. They were taken by EMS to a hospital for minor injuries. Mentzer said this is the first incident of this nature his team has responded to this year, but fire companies in recent years have started to train for rescues like this using grain kits.Upper Frankford Township Fire Company was assisted by Cumberland County's Technical Rescue Operations Team and Department of Public Safety, in addition to
