An investigation has been launched after a fire broke out at a former pub in Bakersfield . On Wednesday, September 11, Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue were called to the fire at The Bakersfield pub in Oakdale Road.
In an initial update to its X account, the service confirmed that six fire engines and the aerial ladder platform were in attendance. A warning was issued to people in the area, with residents told to keep their windows and doors closed. The fire service confirmed at 7am on Thursday, September 12, that an investigation is due to start today. It stated: "Fire crews continued to extinguish the fire until late last night.
"There will be an investigation starting today, which will look into the cause of the fire. Thank you to the local community for their patience whilst we dealt with the incident." The Bakersfield pub has been out of use since 2021, and earlier this week it was reported that the venue could be demolished after plans submitted to Nottingham City Council were tipped for approval. If given the go ahead, these plans would see 13 houses and a set of eight one-bed supporting living apartments built.
