Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue officers are at the scene on Kirklington Road in Bilsthorpe
A Nottinghamshire boarding kennels says it may have to evacuate its dogs amid a major fire in a village. Eight fire engines were called to an incident on Kirklington Road in Bilsthorpe, between Mansfield and Newark , at around 12.45pm on Thursday .
Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue has told people nearby to close all windows and doors, saying crews are working to get the incident under control. The Foxholes Boarding Kennels is situated close to the scene of the incident and one of its bosses released a statement to those who currently have dogs housed there.
The statement said that dogs may be evacuated if the risk increases. The statement added: "We are monitoring the situation very closely and no dogs are at risk, the smoke is intense this is making it look closer to us than it actually is."However, we are on emergency alert with plans in place for evacuation should the need arise. Please don't panic if you can't get hold of us.
"We are outside with the dogs ensuring they are safe." Nottinghamshire Live is running a blog with the latest updates on the incident, which you can follow here.
