The arrest continues a trend of officials capturing illegal migrants charged with sex crimes.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement announced Monday the arrest of a Guatemalan national after the individual allegedly raped a child in Massachusetts. Yader Alexander Morales-Quevedo, 24, illegally entered the U.S. at an unknown date and location, according to ICE. He was arraigned in New Bedford, Massachusetts in 2022 for raping a child in a case that was later upgraded to superior court. He was arrested by immigration officers in May and is currently awaiting the outcome of deportation proceedings while in ICE custody.
Yader Alexander Morales-Quevedo will have his day in court, but he is facing some very serious charges,” Enforcement and Removal Operations Boston Field Office Director Todd Lyons said. “He posed a significant threat to the children in our Massachusetts communities. ERO Boston will continue to prioritize public safety by arresting and removing egregious noncitizen offenders from our New England neighborhoods.”by immigration officials in May after being convicted of a sex crime against a minor.
In January, ICE conducted a seven-day operation across 25 U.S. cities that led to the arrest of more than 100 illegal immigrants facing child sex abuse accusations. The charges against the arrested migrants included sexual assault, rape, murder and child pornography.The Biden administration last week attempted to head off dangerous criminals from entering the U.S.
