The Comal River in New Bruanfels has been added to the National Recreation Trails system by the federal government, a designation that 'recognizes the important role' the river plays in the area, city officials say. The designation of a National Water Trail , awarded by the U.S. Department of the Interior, adds the Comal River the network of 1,300 recreation trails throughout the nation.
