The recent WWE Hall of Fame 2026 announcement drew criticism from many fans who called out the company for the decision.
Class of 2026 on Tuesday, as news arrived that Sidney Eudy, best known as"Psycho Sid" and Sid Vicious while in the company, will be inducted as a"legacy inductee." He had multiple runs while in WWE, including working opposite stars such as Hulk Hogan, The Undertaker, and Shawn Michaels, and winning the WWF Championship twice.
In addition, he was part of World ChampionshipHe joins a WWE Hall of Fame Class that also includes wrestler and executive Stephanie McMahon, tag team Demolition, wrestling legend AJ Styles, and celebrity wrestler, NBA legend Dennis Rodman. Sid died from cancer at the age of 63 in August of 2024, making this a posthumous induction, likely by members of his family or another legend on his behalf.The announcement of Sid's induction didn't sit well with all fans, as some delivered strong criticism towards WWE over the decision, specifically with doing so after his death, rather than while he was still alive years ago. "I’m sorry, but this is just sad. Sid should have been inducted YEARS ago while he was alive. Someone had to say it," a commenter wrote on WWE's X post. Another commenter said,"Just think, a year ago, he could have walked on stage himself, instead of it being a post mortem award. WWE wins again." "Richly deserved .. unfortunately too late as he isnt alive to recieve the honor," an X commenter said. Others replied to WWE's post with:"Can yall maybe start doing this BEFORE the person dies ?" and"Hold on. He wasn’t already in? What took so long?" Another commenter said that they were"all for sid getting in the HOF but it time for you to induct BAM BAM Bigelow long over due." Sid's posthumous"legacy" induction follows in the footsteps of others that occurred in recent WWE Hall of Fame ceremonies. In 2021, there were legacy inductees, including “Dr. Death” Steve Williams, Ray Stevens, and Gary Hart. Last year’s legacy inductees included Dory Funk Sr., Kamala, and Ivan Koloff. The WWE Hall of Fame 2026 induction ceremony occurs on April 17, 2026, in Las Vegas, Nevada, one night before WrestleMania 42 begins.
