The convenience store chain gave free T-shirts to the first 100 people in line.
Customers, including Steve Lesko of Upper Allen Township, formed a line around the store at 100 Metropolitan Way in East Pennsboro Township ahead of the 8 a.m. opening.
Lesko, who grew up in the Doylestown, Bucks County area, said he was the first person in line around 4:30 a.m. For a Pennsylvania company operating more than 1,000 stores in about a dozen states including Florida, an expansion to the center of the state seems long overdue. Wawa“I used to live in Jersey so I was raised on Wawas,” he said. “So I moved out in 2005 and I’ve been waiting and petitioning for a Wawa to come out ever since. It’s well worth the wait.”
