The state announced the grants last week.
The grants can fund the planning, acquisition, and development of public parks; recreation areas; motorized and non-motorized trails; river conservation and access; conservation of open space and community and watershed forestry.Carlisle was awarded $100,000 to prepare a comprehensive recreation, park and open space plan for the borough.
Hampden Township was awarded $250,000 for the development of Smith Drive Park. Work to include construction of basketball courts, pickleball courts, pavilions, pedestrian walkways, access drive, parking area and stormwater management measures, and the installation of play equipment, fitness stations, fencing, lighting and utilities.
