Fairbanks Police Chief Ron Dupee addressed community concerns by releasing more details about 21-year-old Devin Standifer, who went missing over a month ago and is a suspect in a sexual assault case. The update included information about Standifer's last known whereabouts, heavy drinking and a physical altercation at an apartment, and the report of sexual assault by a female resident.
FAIRBANKS, Alaska - Facing a deluge of community comments and emails, Fairbanks Police Chief Ron Dupee told Alaska ’s News Source the purpose of releasing more information Tuesday about 21-year-old Devin Standifer — who police say went missing more than one month ago and is a suspect in a sexual assault case from the same day — was to answer those community questions.
Police say Standifer was last seen on the morning of Dec. 7 leaving an apartment in the 1600 block of 21st Avenue. “A missing person is a missing person’s case, whether we thought that he was on, you know, trying to leave for whatever reason. He hasn’t contacted any family members. He hasn’t contacted any friends or relatives. So obviously we’re concerned about his health and well-being. And that’s our number one priority,” he said.
“Our detectives do interviews and investigate those leads to try and figure out where Devin went,” he added.
