An extreme cold warning was issued by the National Weather Service on Sunday at 3:38 a.m. valid from Tuesday 1 a.m. until Wednesday noon for Cambria and Somerset counties.

"Frostbite and hypothermia are possible if precautions are not taken," describes the weather service. "If you must go outside, dress in layers. Cover exposed skin to reduce your risk of frostbite or hypothermia."Extreme cold warning: Take Action! An extreme cold warning is issued when dangerously cold air temperatures or wind chill values are expected or occurring. If you are in an area with an extreme cold warning, avoid going outside.
