SEMMES, Ala. - What started as just five minutes of released body camera footage has now turned into an hour and a half. We initially only had footage showing officers entering a business through running out after shots were fired.

But after further speculation on why emergency services may have taken so long, NBC 15’s Ella Snapp went back to talk to Semmes PD Chief Freind for more insight. Ella also got the complete body camera footage file from 3:00 am to 4:30 am.Both officers fled from the scene and got separated. Officer Murphy positioned himself outside the business, securing the exit in case the suspect, identified as Bowman, came out.At 3:23 a.m., someone from Mobile County Sheriff's Department made contact with Officer Murphy and addressed Murphy’s graze wound on his lower left back. Around 3:30 a.m. that same Officer is heard yelling into the building at anyone inside the building to address themselves and exit promptly. At 3:37 a.m., Murphy learns through dispatch that Bowman had been shot . Also that there was another person still inside the building with Murphy, on the phone with 911. Around 3:41 a.m., that individual exits and provides officers with critical information, including that Bowman was still inside his RV - to the right - sitting on his bed, that he had been shot 3 times - in his stomach and ribs, and that Bowman was still bleeding when the unnamed individual left the RV.At 3:58 a.m., we can hear Officer Murphy talking with Collier, the second officer who was on scene with him, about a reported burglary just 3 hours prior in the same neighborhood. Finally, at 4:19 a.m., the commotion starts up again as dozens of officers line the door as Bowman walks out of the building and then is escorted by officers to an ambulance.Body camera audio captures deputies repeatedly calling out, telling Bowman they were not coming inside and urging him to come out. Semmes Police Chief Todd Freind said: “It takes a while for people to get out of bed it was 3 o’clock in the morning so that’s why it took so long to get out there.” He says officers were also waiting for additional support before going back inside. “We weren’t going back into the building until we got more help there.” According to Freind, a negotiator was also involved—making contact with Bowman before even arriving on scene. “He actually made contact trying to talk to him see what his condition was and trying to get him to come out safely.”At 4:19 a.m., more than an hour after the shooting, Bowman walks out of the building on his own. Body camera footage shows officers giving commands as he exits before escorting him to an ambulance.Chief Freind acknowledges the situation has drawn criticism, but says officers followed protocol throughout the response. “We have certain rules and regulations policies and procedures we have to follow that in order to get the job done right.”“We have received a couple of nasty emails and phone calls, but it’s really kind of slowed down.” Officials say their priority was keeping everyone involved safe while working to bring the situation to an end.7 Mobile public housing waiting lists open to new applicants Monday March 30, 2026 The Mobile Housing Authority has announced that the following Public Housing waiting lists will open to new applicants on Monday, March 30, 2026, at 9:00 am.TheMobile, Ala. — The Mobile County Judicial Commission has announced a timeline for filling a vacancy on the Circuit Court following the resignation of Circuit JuMobile PD: Man arrested for home invasion with a handgun According to Mobile Police, on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at approximately 8:57 p.m., officers responded to the 3600 block of Brown Road in reference to a homeAccording to Foley Police, on March 25, at around 2:00 p.m., officers responded to a call of a woman who had been stabbed with a screwdriver on Dailey Ln.. in F
