The Eagles improved to 6-2 heading into their bye week.

to their NFC East rival 17 days earlier at MetLife Stadium, the Eagles, with a 38-20 rout, made sure the Giants did not get their first season sweep of the series since 2007. Barkley, who has struggled to get untracked this season, set the tone early by breaking off a 65-yard touchdown run on the second play of the game.

He finished with a season-high 150 yards rushing and 174 total yards from scrimmage while scoring two touchdowns. Barkley, however,The Eagles finished with a season-high 428 yards to 246 yards for the Giants. It was the first time this season that they had more yards than their opponent. The Eagles improved to 6-2 heading into their Week 9 bye and won’t play again until Monday, Nov. 10 at Green Bay.Barkley has been insisting for weeks that the Eagles are close to breaking off an explosive play in the run game and the moment finally arrived early in Week 8. After a first-down incompletion, the Eagles went with their heavy package, bringing in Fred Johnson as an extra offensive lineman. Johnson lined up on the right side of the line as Barkley took a handoff to the left from Jalen Hurts. Barkley went 65 yards for a touchdown after a great block by Landon Dickerson opened up a huge hole. It was by far his longest run of the season, with the previous long being 18 yards on his first carry against the Giants in Week 6 at MetLife Stadium. It was also the start of Barkley’s first breakout game of the season. He’d add a touchdown on a 9-yard catch from Hurts in the flat early in the second quarter and finished the first half with 107 rushing yards and 123 total yards as the Eagles built a 21-10 lead. The Eagles finished with a season-high 277 rushing yards with reserve Tank Bigsby contributing 104 yards on nine carries. It was Bigsby’s third career 100-yard game.He completed 15 of 20 passes for 179 yards and a season-high four touchdowns to post a 141.5 rating. He has a 151.18 passer rating in his last two games, having thrown for 505 yards and seven TDs without an interception. The QB also ran four times for 22 yards. The Eagles looked like they were on their way to at least a double-digit lead after the defense opened the game with a three-and-out series and the offense quickly entered Giants’ territory after an 18-yard run by Bigsby and a 12-yard screen to Barkley, but the drive stalled on a fourth-and-three play when center Brett Toth was flagged for a false start when he twitched before the snap. That forced the Eagles to abandon their fourth-down plan and try a 58-yard field goal. Jake Elliott’s kick hit the right upright and the Giants started their second drive of the game at their own 48.The Giants took advantage of their favorable field position as the rookie duo of Dart and Skattebo led a six-play, 52-yard drive that evened the score at 7-7 late in the first quarter. Dart converted a third-and-eight with a scramble run and, after a punishing five-yard run by Skattebo, the rookie quarterback found Darius Slayton for a 19-yard completion. The two rookies finished off the drive with an 18-yard touchdown pass after Eagles edge rusher Patrick Johnson slipped while trying to cover Skattebo in the flat. Dart, however, could not duplicate what he did in Week 6 when the Giants beat the Eagles. He ran for just 17 yards on six carries and completed 14 of 24 passes for 193 yards.was apoplectic early in the second quarter when the Eagles ran a tush push on a fourth-and-one play and were awarded a first down despite the fact that Kayvon Thibodeaux pulled the ball away from Hurts as he extended the football. Daboll challenged the play, but was told by the officiating crew that the play had been whistled dead before the strip. Daboll still challenged the play on the grounds that Hurts was short of the first down. The ruling was upheld. Rest assured, however, that the Giants will send the tape of the play to the league and this will give the league more ammunition to ban the tush push based on the argument that it is too difficult to officiate. Truth be told, the Giants did appear to get a raw deal on this tush push and it didn’t help Daboll’s mood when Barkley scored on a 9-yard throw in the flat two plays later to give the Eagles a 14-7 lead., the Eagles went up 21-10 with 21 seconds left in the first half when Hurts finished off a seven-play, 53-yard drive with a six-yard TD pass to Dallas Goedert. The Giants got the ball to start the second half, but Jalen Carter made sure there would not be a momentum shift by sacking Dart for an eight-yard loss on the first play from scrimmage in the third quarter. That led to a three-and-out series for the Giants and the Eagles went up 14 when Elliott finished off an 11-play drive by kicking a 40-yard field goal.Backup running back Will Shipley had a career-long 41-yard kickoff return that set up the Eagles’ offense at their own 47-yard line to start their second offensive drive of the game, which resulted in a touchdown. The second-year running back also had a 32-yard return that set the Eagles up at their own 42-yard line and that became the start of a 58-yard touchdown drive for the Eagles.Referee Brad Rogers amused the crowd at the Linc in the fourth quarter when he started to announced that the Jets had declined an illegal formation penalty against the Eagles. He briefly laughed, as did the crowd, before correcting himself and saying the Giants.Eagles star’s huge day cut short as he leaves with injury vs. GiantsIf you purchase a product or register for an account through a link on our site, we may receive compensation.and agree that your clicks, interactions, and personal information may be collected, recorded, and/or stored by us and social media and other third-party partners in accordance with our
