Dothan's two Winn-Dixie stores will close for several weeks near the end of July to transition to ALDI stores.ALDI acquired Southeastern Grocers in March 2024 with a plan to convert many but not all to ALDI stores, and then sold Southeastern Grocers and remaining stores to a consortium earlier this year.
Southeastern Grocers, under the new ownership, operates the remaining stores. The Dothan stores are located at 1571 Westgate Parkway just off Montgomery Highway, and 1151 Ross Clark Circle across from Southeast Health at the intersection of the Circle and East Main Street.ALDI was founded in Germany in 1961; its first U.S. store opened in Iowa in 1976. Now based in Batavia, Illinois, ALDI operates more than 2,400 stores across 38 states. The closest ALDI is in Enterprise.
