Law enforcement is still searching for a third suspect who may have been involved in the attack, identified as Ashton Garcia. Investigators believe that the shooting may have been in retaliation for the shooting death of Salazar's older step-brother Xavier Perez, who was shot and killed just weeks prior in April. Multiple trips have connected both Salazar and Perales to the shooting, as well as a recorded inmate phone call between associates of the two suspects that implied the two had perpetrated the attack.
