Glentoran boss Declan Devine says there's 'no magic switch' to speed up rebuilding

Declan Devine says he is "under no illusions" of the job he needs to do as he prepares to lead Glentoran into the acid test of the first 'Big Two' clash of the season against Linfield.

It is perhaps unfair on Devine given the large scale remodelling job which took place on his squad during the summer. Devine candidly admitted he understood the scale of his task when he took over last season.“When I came into this job, I knew it was a massive challenge. I knew there was a reset button that needed to be pressed, my eyes are firmly open.

“The staff are working hard, the players are working hard, but this is a big turning point at this football club. We have a lot of good, young players, we must make sure everyone sticks behind them. “They are flying at the minute. But it’s a Big Two derby, Glentoran versus Linfield — it’s something special. They don’t come around too often in your life as a player or a manager, so we’ll be ready to have a good crack at it.

“We must go to Windsor to try and do the same thing. Keep a clean sheet to make sure we have a chance of winning the game.
