Glentoran manager Declan Devine acknowledges the intense pressure that comes with leading one of Northern Ireland's biggest clubs. He jokes about needing to be 'a bit mad' for the job, highlighting the constant scrutiny and demands for success. Despite recent setbacks, Devine remains optimistic about Glentoran's prospects and emphasizes the importance of love for the game in overcoming challenges.
Declan Devine admits Irish League management would put you in the madhouse, but says a love of football is what keeps him going.
“Honestly, I tell people you have to be a bit mad to do this job, people will say you are off your head," he joked. “You just don’t know what is around the corner but the one thing I will say is you will have a lot of support. I have only been in this league for a few weeks and there’s a lot of good people in it."
Devine has sympathy for his fellow manager, and has backed the former Irish League winger to be around "for a long time". Eight games into the new season and Glentoran sit third in the table, one point behind Linfield and Cliftonville.
