DAVID MUNDEE Dale County scored three runs in the first inning and added five runs in the final two innings to pace an 8-1 win over Geneva in high school softball action on Tuesday, helping the Warriors clinch the Class 4A, Area 3 regular-season area title.

Leah Grace Snellgrove had three hits, including two doubles, with two runs batted in and Emma Grace Rhoden had two hits to pace the Warriors’ offense. Madyson McLain had a hit and two RBI and Shayleigh Whitman and AK Snellgrove both had a hit and an RBI each.For Geneva, Kaden Ward had a run-scoring double. The Wolves were led by Savanna Kendrick with three hits, including a solo homer, and by Resse Colbert, who had a run-scoring single. Four pitchers – Jada Newman, Kendrick, Jadyn Hutchins and Brantlee McCarthy – combined to limit Andalusia to four hits, while striking out 13. All four pitched two innings and gave up one hit. Newman struck out four and the other three struck out three each. Long 2-0Opp swept a doubleheader over G.W. Long, winning 3-2 and 5-0 in a pair of five-inning games. In the opener, Jaidyn Ivey had two hits, including a solo homer to lead the game off. Ivey also had a single and scored on a passed ball. Addison Moseley added a run-scoring single. Moseley was the winning pitcher, striking out seven over five innings and allowing two hits and two runs with only one run earned.In game two, Opp’s Gradyn Lunsford pitched a five-inning two-hit shutout with four strikeouts. Ivey had two hits and three runs batted in to lead Opp, while Free and Carlie Davis had a single each for the two G.W. Long hits. Headland 3, Eufaula 2Kynlee Watkins struck out nine and allowed only three hits and two unearned runs over seven innings to lead the Rams in a Class 5A, Area 4 win. Addison Grantham and Layla Goodwin both had two hits for Headland with Watkins and Harlee Raley both with a hit and RBI.Houston Academy 11, Carroll 0 Houston Academy pitcher Emily Adams pitched a five-inning no-hitter with 10 strikeouts and two walks and was 3-for-4 with two runs batted in on offense to lead the Raiders in a Class 5A, Area 4 win. Aniya Collins had three hits, Molly Magrino had two hits and two runs batted in and Paige Welch had a hit and an RBI for HA. Rehobeth 16-16, Park Crossing 0-0The Rebels swept a Class 6A, Area 3 doubleheader, winning both games 16-0. In the opening game, Rehobeth scored all 16 runs in the first inning, capped by Kryslin Martin’s grand slam homer. The inning also featured a three-run triple by Shelby Davis, a two-run double and an RBI triple by Jazzy Andrews and two run-scoring singles by Baleigh Nowlin. Brooke Nowlin added a run-scoring double, Jessa Buker a run-scoring single and Adeebah Yusuf an RBI ground out.Lacey Orgeron gave up only one hit over three innings and struck out five. In game two, Hannah Wells had two hits, one a double, and drove in four runs and Alex Cobb and Orgeron both had two hits and two RBI to lead Rehobeth. Kara Peterman and Megan McLean both had one hit and one RBI.Wicksburg 6, Slocomb 0Natalie Cole struck out 12 and allowed only one hit in a seven-inning shutout to lead Wicksburg. Sarah Turvin had two hits with three runs batted in, Chloe Joyner had a double and two runs batted in and Dahlia Ganze had a single and one RBI.Ariton 9, Luverne 4The Purple Cats overcame a 4-1 deficit with a run in the bottom of the fourth, four in the fifth and three in the sixth. Lizzy Faircloth delivered a three-run single and an RBI single, while Macileigh Bragg earned a solo homer and an RBI sacrifice for Ariton. Madolyn Hudson had an RBI ground out and Brianna Achaua had an RBI on a bases-loaded walk. Nya Allen had two hits. Beth Dixon was the winning pitcher, striking out six over seven innings. She gave up four runs, none earned, and seven hits. Kinston 15, Charles Henderson 0Lauren Norris pitched a three-inning, one-hit shutout with six strikeouts, while Allyx Williamson had two hits, one a triple, and five runs batted in to lead Kinston. Camdyn Norris had two doubles and drove in four runs. Lauren Norris had three hits with one RBI and Brynne Kelley added a hit and one RBI.Cottonwood 15, Houston County 0Kinley Duke pitched a three-inning, one-hit shutout with five strikeouts and added two hits, including a two-run homer, to pace Cottonwood. For Elba, Kalleigh Russell and Hilary Hudson both had a double with two runs batted in and Ana Caldwell drove in one run. Geneva County 11, Bethlehem 4Jaden-Scott Majors was 4-for-4 with two triples, three runs batted in and four runs scored and Addison Calhoun was 3-for-4 with two RBI to lead Geneva County. Addie Mae Habbard struck out nine over seven innings. She scattered eight hits and allowed four runs with three earned. Pike Liberal Arts 6, Lee-Scott Academy 5Pike Liberal Arts scored five runs in the top of the seventh to overcome a 4-1 deficit and held on for the win. A Sarah Strickland two-run double put the Patriots in front and an error scored Strickland with an insurance run.Straughn 14, New Brockton 3Emily Grace Peeples had two hits and both Ella Kate Bowers and Annabelle Bookout had a single and a run batted in for New Brockton in the Class 4A, Area 4 contest. MacKenzie Jones had an RBI groundout. Pike County 10, Russell County 2Paloma Cain had three hits and two runs batted in, Abigail Griffin had two hits and two runs batted in and Leah Dixon had two hits with one RBI to lead Pike County.Dixon struck out seven and allowed only two runs and eight hits. Brantley 11, McKenzie 0Alex Grimes struck out 16 and pitched a complete-game one-hit shutout and also delivered three hits and four runs batted in for Brantley. Coco Stamps, Marley Kilcrease and Kennedy Baggett all had two hits each with Stamps driving in two runs. Savannah Nichols added a hit and two RBI. Holmes County 6-7, Abbeville Christian 2-0Abbeville Christian fell in a doubleheader to Holmes County , falling 6-2 in the opener and 7-0 in the second game. Both were five-inning games. In the opener, ACA had four hits with Anna Blakenship earning a double. McKenzie Tomlin had an RBI ground out. The Generals had only two hits in the game two shutout loss – a single each from Hope Kennedy and Alli Kate Causey.
