Some will tolerate higher or lower levels, but some have very strict requirements Finally, incorporate a slow-release, balanced fertilizer into the soil. However, if the bed is on a former lawn that was regularly fertilized, there will likely be plenty of nitrogen already present, so use a product that contains only phosphorus and potassium . Synthetic fertilizers and lawn treatments remain in the soil for about three years, so keep that in mind if you intend to grow organically..
