With more than two dozen tornadoes touching down in Ohio already this season, we’re staying extra #WeatherAware as each system moves through the area.showers in the morning with sunshine by midday, strong storms possible in the late afternoon and evening, windy, mild, high 76.A warm front is draped across the Ohio River Valley from Cincinnati to Portsmouth this afternoon. It’s attached to a very strong low-pressure center sitting over Eastern Nebraska.
As the low inches toward Ohio overnight and Wednesday, it will begin to push a chance of rain into the region. Scattered showers are likely Wednesday morning; this is the not the severe threat. The showers will leave behind plenty of moisture. As some sunshine breaks through the clouds by midday , the atmosphere will pick up some extra energy.
Make sure you have a reliable way to receive watches and warnings. NOAA Weather Radio is the gold standard. The Ohio Weather App is another very good choice. Best to be prepared whenever there’s a chance of strong storms in the area. We’re between weather makers on Thursday with some relatively quiet weather. Some clouds will stick around as we await the next system.
A cold front races through the state Friday morning with some scattered showers and, perhaps, an isolated rumble of thunder. Most of the day remains grey, breezy, and wet. But the showers will taper off in the evening with some clearing overnight. Then we’re headed into a much quieter pattern with high pressure lingering over the area through the weekend and into next week.
