A 2015 romantic drama starring Christian Bale and Natalie Portman is leaving Netflix next month. Here are all the details.
will not be a part of Netflix from next month. The film showcases a dreamlike, spiritual journey of a screenwriter as he navigates various relationships in Los Angeles. The story follows Rick, an LA-based screenwriter who is dissatisfied with his life after his brother’s death.
After distancing himself from his other brother and father, Rick wanders around the city trying to find meaning in life. As he moves through different locations, he explores various relationships, including romantic encounters with six women. The film is divided into 10 chapters, each inspired by tarot cards. These chapters are presented as fragments rather than a continuous story. Terrence Malick wrote and directed the film. Knight of Cups is a part of his series of experimental films about death and life. The Oscar-nominated director reunited with cinematographer Emmanuel Lubezki for a fourth time. They previously worked on The New World , The Tree of Life , and To the Wonder . The film features an expansive cast that includes Christian Bale, Natalie Portman, Cate Blanchett, Antonio Banderas, Wes Bentley, Isabel Lucas, Teresa Palmer, and Armin Mueller-Stahl, among others., Bale said the director didn’t give him the entire script of the film. Instead, Malick gave him a brief character description and asked him to read Walker Percy’s novel, The Moviegoer. Knight of Cups premiered at the 2015 Berlin International Film Festival on February 8. It was later released in theaters in the United States on March 4, 2016. Upon release, the film didn’t seem to connect with the viewers. Both critics and audiences had a mixed-to-negative reception., it currently has a Tomatometer score of 47% and a Popcornmeter score of 38%.
