Chris Evans' return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Steve Rogers is confirmed for Avengers: Doomsday, and with the reveal, it is possible that the franchise could finally bring back plans for the actor's lost Captain America 4.
Despite denying it when asked in interviews, Evans was confirmed for Avengers: Doomsday's cast by the first trailer for the 2026 MCU movie. The teaser revealed that Steve Rogers and Hayley Atwell's Peggy Carter had a baby, with Evans' Captain America also putting away his Avengers: Endgame suit, setting up the role he will play in Avengers: Doomsday's story. Steve's confirmed MCU return comes years after Marvel reportedly had plans for a lost entry in the Captain America movie franchise, which could now finally happen. In 2024, when Hayley Atwell was reported to be back as Peggy Carter in Avengers: Doomsday, Deadline revealed shocking details about that previous attempt to bring back Evans. According to the report, the MCU had been trying to develop a new solo movie featuring Evans' Captain America and Atwell's Peggy Carter. However, a story for the project was never locked down, unfortunately.
