Sure, it's been a great few years for Timothée Chalamet and Florence Pugh, but the one star who has shown an admirable consistency when it comes to box-office performance is Channing Tatum. As far back as 2022, when the industry was limping back after a terrible year, Tatum was headlining the films Dog and The Lost City, which grossed $84 million and $192 million worldwide, respectively.
In subsequent years, he appeared in films such as Magic Mike's Last Dance, Deadpool & Wolverine, and Blink Twice. Tatum's sole major release in 2025 was a true-crime movie directed by Derek Cianfrance. The movie did so-so business at the box office, but Tatum's loyal fans have turned it into a juggernaut on home video. Also starring Kirsten Dunst, the film was based on the true story of a thief who robbed dozens of McDonald's outlets by breaking into them via their roofs, escaped prison, and was caught hiding in a toy store. The movie earned positive reviews for its lighthearted tone and Tatum's central performance, and is now sitting at a"Certified Fresh" 87% score on the aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes. The movie we're talking about, of course, is Roofman. In her review, Collider's Tania Hussain praised Tatum for"stripping away that glossy movie-star sheen we’ve all come to know him for to reveal something messier and achingly human" and wrote that the movie"feels like a tender homage to ‘80s and ‘90s classics." This is a higher gross than the far more expensive Austin Butler vehicle, Caught Stealing. The crime-comedy also features LaKeith Stanfield, Juno Temple, Peter Dinklage, and Ben Mendelsohn, and has been dominating the domestic PVOD charts for over three months. According to FlixPatrol, the film has spent more than 100 days on the Paramount+ chart, while also finding spots on the Prime Video and MGM+ rankings.
