Dansville, N.Y. — Our Bright Spot shines on Josi Opolentisima, who was selected as the artist for the upcoming Granula Mural project in Dansville. Granula, the world's first manufactured cold breakfast cereal, was invented in Dansville by Dr. James Caleb Jackson back in 1868. Opolentisima, a Rochester resident, said the development of granula is a fascinating part of the town's local identity and is looking forward to creating a bold and visual landmark for the community to enjoy. Painting is set to begin in July on the exterior of Sunrise Restaurant on Main Street and is expected to be complete by the end of the summer. “The Mural Committee is thrilled to be orchestrating another historical mural for our community," chair Julee Acomb said in a statement. "We are certain that Josi’s artistic expression and design will complement the surrounding environment. We are looking forward to having this beautiful piece of public art in downtown Dansville for all to enjoy.” Funding has been provided through a 2026 Arts Ignite grant from Genesee Valley Council on the Arts as well as generous private donors.Man killed in Livingston County snowmobile crash Portage, N.Y. — A report of a missing man led authorities to discover he had been killed in a snowmobile crash in Livingston County.Parolee accused of raping 15-year-old after giving her drugs An Ontario County man has been charged with first- and third-degree rape and facilitating a sexual performance of a child with drugs or alcohol.ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. — The Buffalo Bills stayed in-house by promoting offensive coordinator Joe Brady as their new head coach.
