The award recognizes the very best educators and employees across the country who are making a difference in the lives of students by exemplifying excellence, positive influence, and leadership. Arnez's friend, Louise Smith, nominated him, saying he sees every child as a whole person and uses music as a vehicle to foster a sense of belonging, resilience, and self-worth. If Arnez wins the grand prize, he'll get a cash prize of $20,000 to be shared with his school or district later this year.
