The body of a missing Whittier kayaker was found over the weekend thanks to the efforts of volunteer search and rescue divers.
ANCHORAGE, Alaska -
According to the Alaska Dive Search Rescue and Recovery Team, crew members found the Whittier kayaker’s body Sunday. Whittier officials called in the volunteer divers after several days passed without signs of the man. Early Sunday, an active search gave way to the recovery effort.Whittier Fire and EMS, Alaska State Troopers, Alaska Dive Search and Recovery and the U.S. Coast Guard all contributed to the search, with help from local businesses SeaTow and Lazy Otter Charters.
