A former professional footballer who is now an aspiring coach in the lower leagues is calling for Arthur Zwane and Dillon Sheppard to be considered for a chance as first team coaches at Kaizer Chiefs if the club is to make any coaching changes at the end of the season. With the DStv Premiership season set to resume this weekend and with Mamelodi Sundowns appearing to be on course to defending the title once more, there has been talk in the fraternity that some of the top teams might undergo some changes including in their coaching departments to reshuffle for next season.
Former Pirates defender Lizo Mjempu says a move to Chiefs for McCarthy would be an injustice to current assistant coaches Arthur Zwane and Dillon Sheppard who have been trying to prove their worth in the team. “As much as everyone would love to see Benni joining a big club and since I am seeing him also being linked with Chiefs, I don’t think him going there would be fair to Arthur Zwane and Dillon Sheppard. That won’t be fair to the two guys as they did well when the chips were down for Chiefs. They deserve to be given a chance if the club is to make coaching changes because I also thought that they complimented each other when they worked together before Baxter officially took over,” said Mjempu.
