An Anchorage woman sees a world of wildlife through the lens of her game cameras in Far North Bicentennial Park

Some were excited to witness a side of Mother Nature that is seldom seen. Others were upset at the violence of the hungry wolves.

“That is probably the most exciting and most active event that I’ve captured on my game cameras,” Shaw said.In the nearly eight years since she started posting game cameras in the park, Shaw has seen an incredible variety of animals roaming not far from her Muldoon neighborhood. Her lens has captured many special moments, from mother bears shepherding triplets to foxes fighting over a moose carcass to a popular spot named “the bear rub tree” that gets a lot of action.

Shaw said it’s always exciting to see what her cameras have recorded. Sometimes she is disappointed, but other times Shaw says she is unexpectedly rewarded. But it's always an honor and a pleasure to have a front-row seat to Mother Nature, Shaw says, and her game camera hobby has become an important part of her life.
