According to the San Antonio Police Department, the incident began as a high-risk welfare check shortly after 9 a.m. Sunday at the 7900 block of Jones Maltsberger Road. Officers were called to the scene initially believing the suspect, a man in his 30s, had a weapon. When they got there, the suspect was not located there.
Through the course of the investigation, officers learned the suspect was at the 1800 block of East Sonterra Boulevard. When they arrived at this location, they knocked on the door and no one answered. SWAT was then called and engaged in a several hours long standoff with the suspect. Eventually, officers were able to make entry and found both the male suspect and a female victim in her late 20s deceased in the apartment.
Police say there is no cause of death at this time and it is unclear if the man and woman were related. The investigation is ongoing.
